The Community Performing Art Trust (CPAT) is a registered charitable trust formed in 2015.
Based in Te Whanga-nui-a-Tara, we support arts organisations and activation across Aotearoa.
Vitalise communities through performing arts and create fertile ground for the growth of new community and arts partnerships.
Develop and strengthen communities through creative projects.
Create performing arts events which are politically and socially relevant.
Provide accessible and affordable arts experiences for the widest possible audience.
Champion lesser-heard voices within the performing arts community.
Foster and support the development of young theatre practitioners by providing opportunities to contribute to the Trust’s activities.
Encourage and facilitate community participation in the performing arts.
Champion the role and value of arts and artists in society.
Enable participation, grow creative ecosystems, strengthen organisations and challenge systems to create more inclusive and imaginative futures.
Our trustees are makers and advocates, thinkers and doers - artists who perform, academics who organise, lawyers who champion, and number-crunchers who care deeply. Together, we span the art of making and performing, while bringing together a rich mix of creative practice, strategic thinking and community leadership. Our collective experience supports bold ideas, meaningful connection and provides support for creativity and community to thrive.
